SMILE SMILE

最小化 最大化

The Seamless Mental-health International League (SMILE)

The NACN Laboratoryhas established a strong clinical research network in China, covering major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Weifang, Suzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. The SMILE was developed on the basis of its predecessor, the Virtual Centre for Transdiagnostic Mental Health Research.

It follows the approach of affective and cognitive neuroscience to investigate the causes and development of mental disorders. Our teams emphasize the continuum model of mental disorders, and utilize an extended sampling method to recruit patients with established diagnoses as well as high-risk populations having subclinical psychopathology.

The main aims of the SMILE include:

  • Mapping of biomarkers for mental disorders
  • Studying the commonalities in psychopathology, cognitive functions and neurobiological features between different mental disorders
  • Providing conceptual frameworks, supportive evidence, and putative intervention targets for future non-pharmacological interventions for mental disorders
